The Seasons are Changing in Las Cruces

I’ve been waiting for Picacho Mountain winter to finally settle in here in Las Cruces, and this morning, it arrived with a flourish. After two days and three nights of steady rain, a cold front pushed through the region, briefly turning that moisture into a morning snowfall.

Freya showed up at our door in California and has come to New Mexico with us. She's adapting to the desert but loves the cold weather and sleeping in a roof top tent on our camping trips.

A Morning Walk with an Alaskan Eskimo Dog In Picacho Mountain Winter

There is nothing quite like the high desert in the winter. My Alaskan American Eskimo dog was in his element as we headed out to explore the trails near the house. By mid-morning, the grey clouds began to break, revealing those iconic patches of New Mexico blue sky against the rugged terrain.

Beauty in Every Forecast

Whether it’s the summer heat or a surprise winter dusting, this area never ceases to amaze me. These quiet morning walks are the perfect way to scout new locations and enjoy the dramatic weather shifts that make living near Picacho Hills so unique.
