Why the Park Tool TSI-1 is the Best Mess-Free Tubeless Sealant Injector?

In my garage, I have a Park Tool sticker that reads, 'Trust Me, I’m A Bike Mechanic.' I may just be a DIYer, but using the right equipment makes all the difference. The Park Tool TSI-1 is a bike shop quality tool and arguably the best mess-free tubeless sealant injector.  I’ve added it to my collection. It solves the huge problem of the 'messy' traditional method. I no longer have to pop the tire bead or struggle with makeshift bottles. This tool ensures a clean injection every time, letting me pump up my tires and get back to mountain biking faster than ever.

Conquering Desert Punctures and Goat Heads

If you ride mountain bikes in the desert Southwest like I do here in Las Cruces, you know that tubeless tires are a necessity. Between the sharp rocks and those pesky "goat head" thorns, punctures are just a part of the trail experience. However, maintaining your tires doesn't have to be a disaster. Using a mess-free tubeless sealant injector is a total game-changer.

Muddy Ruttzz is using a Park Tool VC-1 tool to remove the core of a Presta valve on his mountain bike tire so he can add sealant through it using the Park Tool sealant injector.
Get one, add it to your bike tool bag and take it with you every ride.

Essential Tools: Park Tool VC-1 and TSI-1

You need the TSI-1 Injector but your going nowhere fast if you can't remove the valve core. The Park Tool VC-1 is the best I have found and it stays in my Camelback unless I need it in my garage shop. When I'm done it goes back in. 1 side works with Presta the other with Schrader valves and the middle is for tightening valve extenders on. (Extenders are used mostly with deep dish wheels.)

Step-by-Step Guide: Adding Sealant Without the Mess

1. Prepping the Injector

Step No. 1 is filling the Injector body with the your tire sealant of choice. The large opening makes it easy. Fill it up and thread the plunger on to the body.

2. Removing the Presta Valve Core

Pro Tip: Keep a supply of Presta Valves on hand. I have found that tire sealant will get dried onto the inside of the Presta Valve and air will leak out of your tire or when you try to pump the tire it won't hold air. Pull the valve out an check it.

3. Adding The Sealant To The Tire

Pro Tip: Using my old method of adding sealant with a empty chain lube bottle I would have a big mess because air would have a hard time escaping the tire while I would be filling it. The TSI-1 eliminates that. This is also about 100 times better method than popping the bead off the tire.

3. Clean Injection and Cleanup

Take care of this injector and clean after use. This is a Bike Shop Quality Tool and you will be able to use it for years. I have a sink in my garage that makes it easy to clean the tire sealant out of the TSI-1.

I have been running tubeless tires for many years and I struggled with adding sealant till I finally broke down and bought the Park Tool TSI-1 Injector. I built up this Lynskey Live Wire and you can see all the details in my article 10 Things I Learned Building A Titanium Mountain Bike.

I have been using Slime since I moved to Las Cruces. I can buy it at the auto parts store. I have had great luck with Orange Seal also.

Conclusion: Make It Easy On Yourself To Add Tubeless Sealant And Keep The Rubber Side Down

No more sticky fingers, no more wasted Slime, and no more bead-seating headaches. The Park Tool TSI-1 is the mess-free tubeless sealant injector every desert rider needs in their toolkit. Maintenance shouldn't keep you off the bike; it should get you back on it faster. Have questions about the setup?
